Description
Dog Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat). Meet Baxter the bright. He has a loud personality that is just full of spunk. In the ripe age of around 12 years old, poor old Baxter found himself wandering the streets of North Chicago. The leaves were changing, falling, and he was tossed out like the Wednesday morning trash. This tumbleweed found his way to the north Chicago animal control where loving guardians cared for him. He was nourished, fed and even treated for his few cancerous lumps. We met him and felt so deeply for his story, we knew he needed to make his journey onto redemption road. We found a boy with so much heart, so much love to give and a yearning for life. His heart is incredibly strong, and he will shower anyone with attention, devotion and loyalty. Such courage and strength he must possess even after being abandoned. Baxter has an unbreakable spirit, and he will gladly fill a home with that energy. Baxter enjoys short walks, peeing in the yard on everything, smelling random dog butts from time to time and a cozy bed where he can lay facing away with his butt sticking out at you. He is a foodie, we highly recommend some steak for him from time to time. He certainly has earned a lavish life, and we are on a mission by golly to find him that exact retirement. Baxter is too old to catch any cats so he now doesn't mind them much, he gets along with 60% of dogs but is also too rickety to do much of anything to any one so he wouldn't mind a calm housemate. He loves all humans of all sizes and would be a fun family dog. Contact us to learn even more about this lovely boy, call us directly by at 847-338-3252 or emailing inforedemptionroadinc. Overview:
The American Staffordshire Terrier, often affectionately called an "AmStaff," is a breed with a fascinating history, originating in 19th-century England and later refined in the United States. Physically, they are medium-sized, muscular, and agile dogs, known for their powerful build and distinctive wide smile. Their short, stiff coat comes in a variety of colors and patterns. In terms of temperament, AmStaffs are generally intelligent, confident, and highly loyal to their families. They possess a strong desire to please and can be quite affectionate. While they can make excellent family companions and often get along well with children, early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strength and inherent protective instincts. They are adaptable and can thrive in various living situations, including apartments, as long as they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. Health-wise, they are generally robust, but some individuals may be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions.
