Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Athena is a 2-year-old Pit Bull mix weighing approximately 53 pounds who is looking for a patient, loving home where she can feel safe and truly thrive. She was found near Lakeshore in Rockwall and was never reclaimed, and as of 05/05/26 she has officially become a Diamond Dog after spending 90 days in the shelter. Athena is a gentle and sensitive girl who may be a little shy when first meeting new people or adjusting to new environments. With time, consistency, and kindness, she begins to open up and reveal a deeply affectionate and loyal personality. She forms strong bonds with her people and will do best in a calm, stable home that allows her to build confidence at her own pace. Athena walks nicely on a leash and, while she may not have had extensive formal training, she is eager to learn and responds well to positive reinforcement. She does well with calm, easygoing dogs and would be a good fit for a home with a similar canine companion. She may also thrive as the only dog in the home where she can fully settle in and focus on bonding with her person. A meet and greet is required for any home with existing pets to ensure a good match. Athena is spayed, microchipped, current on her rabies vaccination and boosters, and has tested heartworm positive. Her heartworm treatment is fully sponsored by Rockwall PAWS, giving her every opportunity to live a long and healthy life. Her adoption fee is $75.
