Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Hot Diggity Dog…Meet Oscar Mayer! This 5-year old little lunchable came to us from a local good Samaritan, who took him in after his owner lost his housing, and he is bun-believably amazing! Oscar is a petite terrier mix who is bacon bit size, and his 30-lb frame has a bun-length, extra-long hot dog body that we adore! Let us be frank…we are in LOVE! Oscar is mighty and meaty in a pint-sized package. He is snuggly, affectionate, playful, fun-loving, and a certified foodie. He loves any and all treats and jumps vertically in excitement when the treats come out (uh, we’re working on it…maybe). We like to think of him as maple-flavored, because he is sooooo sweet! He perches on the back of the couch like a cat and practically throws himself under your arm to snuggle as soon as you lay down. And Oscar is a ham and a half! Mostly mellow in the house (except when something exciting is happening like treats), but very exuberant with his toys once or mayyyyyvbe twice a day. He loves soft toys…especially long floppy ones. He even treats his greenies like toys, plays with them for a bit then hides them for later. Oscar is playing a little ketchup on vet care…he had been neglected for a while with massive ear infections and a split ear from shaking his head so much, but he’s on a roll with recovering and being the best version of himself. And it could always be wurst. Oscar is great with the cat in his foster home and tested well with dogs. Frankly, Oscar is just looking for a Wienermobile all his own! And his family will relish every moment with him and be the real wiener. Due to his lack of history, older or no kids would be best for this Li’l Smokie. Oscar Mayer’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who NEEDS a Velcro pup, and who will let Oscar be close to them always (on the couch, in a chair, in bed). 2. A family who will be supportive of his lack of confidence with new people/situations and patiently introduce him to all that life has to offer. He can alarm bark and show unease in new situations, but quicky comes around to new friends. 3. A family who will appreciate him for the AWESOME dog he is and support him every step of the way!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
