Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Hecate is affectionate and playful once she trusts you, but she needs the freedom to approach people on her own terms. Giving her that space and patience allows her personality to shine, and when it does, it’s incredibly rewarding. Her affection is sincere, soft, and lasting. Hecate is believed to be a distemper survivor, which causes her to shake and wiggle—and honestly, it only adds to her charm. When she tries to play, the combination of wobbles, enthusiasm, and determination is absolutely heart-melting. She loves to play and would do best in a patient home, preferably with another dog, as canine companionship brings her comfort and joy. She’s a resilient little soul who has clearly been through a lot, and now she’s ready for a home that understands trust takes time and love goes a long way. With patience, kindness, and a furry friend by her side, Hecate will be a devoted and joyful companion. If you’re looking for a special dog with so much love to give, Hecate is waiting for you. Hecate is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 02/20/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. More About Jack Chi BreedOverview:
The Jack Chi is a delightful designer breed, a cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the energetic Jack Russell Terrier. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parents, this hybrid typically inherits a compact size, weighing between 8-18 pounds and standing 10-15 inches tall. Their physical appearance varies, often featuring a short, smooth coat in colors like black, white, tan, or a combination, with alert, intelligent eyes. Temperamentally, Jack Chis are known for being playful, intelligent, and loyal companions. They possess the Chihuahua's affectionate nature and the Jack Russell's zest for life, making them engaging pets. While adaptable to apartment living due to their smaller stature, they require regular exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. They can be good with families who understand their need for consistent training and socialization, especially with younger children. Notable health considerations for the Jack Chi include potential predispositions to conditions seen in their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation, dental issues, and heart problems, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
