Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed. Matilda is a 4-month-old Lab/Husky mix bursting with puppy joy! At 23 lbs, she is so sweet and adorable, especially when she catches her reflection—she always wants to play with the "other dog." She adjusted beautifully into her foster home, not missing a beat. She loves wrestling with dog pals, playing tug-of-war, and playing her own version of fetch: she chases after it, shows you, and then runs around with it in her mouth. She will probably be happiest with frequent play sessions (either with another dog or her people), and a decent walk each day. Matilda does great with other dogs, acting curious and excited to make new friends. She would likely do best in a home with another dog already, or plenty of time with her humans. She has not met cats yet, so a proper introduction is recommended. She loves being picked up and cuddled by kids, though like all puppies she mouths when excited so it's good to have chew toys handy. Matilda likes to nap in her crate, and spends a few hours a day confined to the crate. She settles after a bit but will require a home without shared walls due to barking when left alone. She is making steady progress with house training—she struggled with cold weather but can use puppy pads. If you’re looking for a playful, sweet, slightly dramatic puppy, Matilda is ready for you! Breed overview
Overview:
The Sheprador, a popular crossbreed resulting from the union of a German Shepherd Dog and a Labrador Retriever, embodies many desirable traits from both parent breeds. Originating from designer breed efforts to combine the intelligence of the German Shepherd with the Labrador's friendly disposition, these dogs typically boast a medium to large build with a dense, weather-resistant coat that can range in color. Physically, they often exhibit the Shepherd’s strong bone structure and the Lab’s kind eyes. Temperamentally, Shepradors are generally intelligent, loyal, and trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and do best in homes with a yard, as their energy levels make apartment living challenging without significant daily exercise. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, common to both parent breeds, and eye conditions. Early socialization and consistent training are key to fostering a well-adjusted Sheprador.
