Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pointer / Mixed. Domino is a sweet, gentle mama who has completely stolen our hearts. She has a soft, loving personality and, while a bit timid with new experiences, she settles in quickly and absolutely adores human attention. She’s house trained, quiet, and incredibly kind. Domino knows “sit” and is learning “leave it,” “stay,” “off,” and “down,” responding beautifully to praise and treats. She’s patient on walks, alert and curious about her surroundings, and while her “bat ears” go up when she notices something interesting, she quickly gets distracted by everyday life. Although she doesn’t quite know how to play with toys yet, Domino is all about people — she’ll softly climb into your lap or put her head and paws on your chest for snuggles. She’s protective, affectionate, and genuinely sweet, making it hard not to fall for her instantly. Active enough to enjoy walks and time outdoors, but also perfectly content to cuddle and relax, Domino is ready to move on from her mama duties and find her forever family. This loving girl is sure to bring joy and companionship to anyone lucky enough to call her theirs. Domino was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. She was just hours away from euthanasia with her litter of puppies before she was able to be rescued out of the shelter. Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances. Breed overview
Overview:
The Lab-Pointer, a charming crossbreed of the Labrador Retriever and Pointer, originated from the desire to combine the best qualities of both parent breeds. Physically, they are typically medium to large dogs, showcasing a athletic build, often with a short, dense coat in various colors like black, yellow, chocolate, or liver, and sometimes the distinctive Pointer markings. Their temperament is generally a delightful blend: intelligent, loyal, and eager to please like the Lab, combined with the Pointer's alert and energetic nature. This makes them highly trainable, though they do require consistent exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom. While affectionate and good with children, their energy levels mean they are best suited for active families with a yard, rather than small apartments. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from either parent, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions, and certain cancers, making responsible breeding and regular vet check-ups crucial for their well-being.
