Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat). We are looking for a foster-to-adopt home for Hope, a six-month-old German Shepherd mix stray who arrived at the shelter underweight and positive for heartworm. Despite her difficult start, she is a very sweet girl who gets along well with children, cats, and other dogs. Hope has stabilized and begun gaining weight. Once she reaches a healthy weight, she will begin heartworm treatment. We are seeking a caregiver who can transport her to veterinary appointments in Batavia, manage her medications, and ensure she remains calm and quiet during her treatment. The treatment process involves approximately four months of injections and medication, with a final test for cure at the one-year mark. Volunteers For Animals will cover all costs associated with her medical care, including her future spaying surgery. If you are interested in fostering to adopt Hope or would like more information, please email us at infovol4animals, call the shelter at 585-343-6410 (option 7), or visit us during adoption hours. Hope is currently at the shelter and would love to meet you. Here is the adoption process: To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $100 fee for any county animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier. Thank you for considering a homeless animal.
