Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Meet Scooter Scooter is a 1-year-old Boxer goofball with springs for legs and curiosity permanently set to high. He’s currently safe and cozy while boarding at the vet’s office, getting the care (and climate control) he deserves. Scooter’s world changed quickly due to a sudden shift in his owner’s living situation. Through absolutely no fault of his own, this happy, wiggly boy found himself needing help — and we’re committed to giving him a future that finally makes sense. Scooter and his fur sister Roxy had been living outdoors — confused, cold, and bored. Those days are over. No more worrying about extreme heat, arctic cold, or storms. From here on out, Scooter’s only job is family dog, adventure buddy, and full-time household comedian. Scooter will be ready for adoption in about a week. He and Roxy may be adopted together to the right home. Apply to adopt: .chboxerrescue/adopt Available in the Northeast (NY, NJ, CT, RI, VT, PA, DE, MD, NoVA)

Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
