Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Please contact Mike (mmaheuxgooddogrescue) for more information about this pet. To adopt please fill out an adoption application. Be sure to watch his video! Lucky is a 2 yo Pit Bull Terrier Mix who was rescued as a stray in Memphis. Friendly, happy, gentle, well-socialized young dog! Good with cats and other dogs and living comfortably with a cat/dog in his foster home. History with children is unknown but he’s very friendly and is recommended for dog-savvy kids 10 years and older just due to his size and activity level. Lucky is MUSCULAR and very active. He still has a lot of puppy left in him. Medium-high energy level outside, quiet and well-mannered in the house. Housebroken and crate trained. Obeys basic commands. Loves to be with his people. Good on a leash, rides great in the car. When Lucky first came to us he had heartworms but he was treated without complications and is now ready for adoption. Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, neutered, weighs about 55 pounds. AWESOME young terrier mix will make a wonderful companion (and jogging partner!) for an active family who loves the breed. To adopt please fill out an adoption application. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
