Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Meet Tucker Tucker is a very sweet, fun-loving boy who brings joy wherever he goes! He loves other animals and does great with kids, making him a wonderful candidate for a family home. Proper introductions with any current pets will help set him up for success. Tucker can become defensive if another dog growls at him or invades his space, so respectful furry friends are the best match for him. He is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and has experienced a few very small seizures since coming into our care. Our veterinarian has completed a full evaluation, including a senior blood panel, and all results came back very good. At this time, the vet has determined that medication is not necessary, though that could change in the future. Tucker is a loving, resilient boy who deserves a family ready to support him and give him the happy life he’s waiting for. Could that be you? We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home. Please only apply if you are serious about adopting. Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine. The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. If it is not a match we will file your approved application and you can wait till you find the perfect match.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
