Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Hunter 1 year old • Male Hunter is a happy, goofy, and super smart young dog with a big heart. He’s a total cuddlebug who loves being close to his people and has a playful side—especially when rope toys are involved! He already knows sit, shake, and down, is completely potty-trained, and does great with a routine. Hunter is very active and would love an adopter who enjoys playtime, walks, and continuing his training. In his previous home, Hunter lived indoors with adults only and slept in a crate at night. He has done well with other dogs he’s met and shows a gentle, submissive demeanor, though he may bark at strangers at first. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality shines through. Hunter is looking for a calm, loving home where he can feel secure and continue to thrive. Come meet Hunter and see what a special boy he is! Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
