A FTA contract is required. R hind leg injured Meet Ace — our brave little warrior Ace is a young puppy who has already endured more than any baby should. He was originally owned by a family with a small child, and in a tragic accident, he was dropped and suffered a broken leg. Instead of receiving proper surgical care, his leg was splinted as a temporary solution. When the bandage was changed, the injury was found to be far worse and likely infected — and that’s when we were asked to help. Of course, we said yes. Ace was immediately transported to NVC in Nederland, where he underwent surgery to repair his leg. Pins were placed to properly align and stabilize his growing bones, giving him the best chance at a full and healthy recovery. He now faces about four weeks of healing followed by rehabilitation, and he is handling it all like a champ. Despite everything, Ace remains sweet, trusting, and full of puppy spirit. He is gentle, affectionate, and eager for love — the kind of boy who melts into your arms and reminds you why rescue matters. For Ace’s safety and well-being, he will not be adopted to a home with children under 5 years old, nor to senior adopters. Ace will need a patient, compassionate home willing to support him through his recovery, but the reward will be a lifetime of loyalty, gratitude, and love from a boy who truly deserves his happily ever after. ✨ Ace’s story is still being written — and the best chapters are yet to come.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
