Description

Dog Breed: Great Dane. Meet Lottie — Zoomie-Loving Girl! Lottie is a sweet, affectionate Great Dane who is equal parts cuddle bug and playful puppy. At just 1 year old, she is still learning how to navigate life in a home and does so with lots of enthusiasm and personality. Location: Fostered in Sanford, NC Age: 1 year Energy Level: Very active Why Lottie Is Special: Lottie is a true “lap Dane” who loves to sit, lean, and cuddle with her people. She has impressive zoomies and brings a lot of joy and laughter to daily life. Soft stuffed toys are her favorite, and she is always eager for affection and attention. Training & Daily Life: Lottie is house-trained and crate-trained. She is still learning to walk nicely on a leash, but recent walks have gone well. Car rides are sometimes okay for her. She is not muzzle trained and is still working on her manners, especially around food. Lottie is continuing to build confidence and learn that she is safe and cared for. Some of her behaviors, such as rushing through doors, barreling out of her crate, or grabbing unattended food, are normal puppy behaviors and not expected to be long-term issues. Social Skills: Lottie has lived with an older male Great Dane and would love to have another large dog as a companion. Due to her size and enthusiastic, paw-heavy play style, she would do best with another big dog rather than a small one. She has met children of various ages and has done well, but because she is still learning her size and boundaries, Great Dane experience is recommended for families with very young children. She is friendly with adults and strangers but can be overly excited when greeting new people and is still working on polite introductions. Things She Doesn’t Love: - Lottie is not a fan of the vet, vacuums, or loud household appliances. Lottie’s Ideal Home: Lottie would thrive in a home with another large dog, space to run and play, and people who understand that she is emotionally and mentally younger than her age. She is learning quickly but needs patience, structure, and consistency to continue building confidence. Lottie is a Great Dane through and through — goofy, loving, sensitive, and full of personality. With the right home, she will grow into an incredible lifelong companion. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176For more information, please email us at rescuemesrgdrr. Great Dane

A.K.A.: German Mastiff, Deutsche Dogge, Dänische Dogge, Tigerdogge, Ulmer Dogge, Englische Dogge, Grand Danois, Dogue Allemand, Great German Dog, Apollo of Dogs, King of Hounds, Gentle Giant, Dane
Overview:

The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
