Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Toys, Twirls, and Tail Wags: Meet Jax! Jax loves toys almost as much as he loves people—and that’s saying a lot! This VERY joyful boy greets the world with a wagging tail and a big happy heart. Whether he’s carrying around his favorite toy or leaning in for affection, Jax just wants to be close to his humans. He’s an easy walker on a harness and makes strolls together a breeze. At home, Jax is all about connection—he’ll happily press up beside you and politely request belly rubs (his favorite!). One of his cutest habits is twirling around your legs like a cat when he’s excited to see you. Jax already knows “sit” and is working on “stay,” especially when treats are involved—he’s very treat-motivated and takes them gently. He’s currently living with another dog and doing well, showing his sweet and social nature. If you’re looking for a loving companion who will fill your days with joy, cuddles, and a little happy spin now and then, Jax might be your perfect match. He shares a room with a female dog and has participated in shelter playgroups. He may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
