Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Belle is a 6-month-old, 23-lb “31 flavors” mixed-breed puppy with a stunning brindle coat, the softest, most soulful eyes, and the cutest little short legs that only add to her charm. Her mom is a petite 31-lb feist mix, and while dad remains a mystery, Belle’s dainty paws (and those short legs!) suggest she’ll likely grow into a comfortable medium size. When Belle first arrived, she won hearts with the sweetest little nervous army crawl—which has since blossomed into joyful butt wiggles as her confidence grows. She absolutely adores people, especially her human foster siblings (ages 6 and 10), and lights up around just about anyone she meets. Belle also finds comfort and guidance from her furry foster siblings, and watching her blossom through their example has been an absolute joy. Like any puppy her age, Belle is still learning the ropes with house and crate training and will do best with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. She hasn’t lived with cats yet, but with slow, thoughtful introductions, she could likely learn to coexist peacefully. If you’re searching for a gentle-hearted puppy with short legs and a big heart—ready to grow into a devoted lifelong companion—Belle just might be your perfect match. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 2/15 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
