Description

Dog Breed: Chihuahua. Meet Milo — a Sweet, Resilient Little Survivor Milo (SC) is a twoyearold male Chihuahua with an enormous heart and an irresistible charm. We pulled him from a shelter after he ended up there through no fault of his own; he had been attacked by another animal and urgently needed care. He’s now safe with our veterinary partner, where he’s being treated for wounds on his neck, chest, and back. Even with everything he has endured, Milo remains the gentlest, sweetest boy. He adores people, gets along beautifully with other dogs, and greets kindness with soft eyes and a hopeful spirit. Milo is adorable, loving, and ready for a fresh start. He deserves a family who will cherish him and show him the safety and affection he’s always deserved. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion with a brave heart, Milo is waiting. Apply to adopt at .rescuedogsrocknyc. Please be sure to reference this pet's name as Milo (SC) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. Thank you! RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue. All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.

Overview:

The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
