Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Fresno (A567090) is a sweet senior boy who walks nicely on leash and went potty as soon as we got outsideâalways a great sign he may already be house-trained. Heâs a curious little guy who enjoyed exploring and taking in all the smells around him. Fresno has a bump on his head and what looks like a mark from an old embedded collar, signs that his life before the shelter may not have been the easiest. Despite that, heâs still interested in people and seems to want affectionâhe just isnât quite sure yet how to feel about it. Heâs not the gentlest treat taker, so offering treats with an open hand works best. With patience, kindness, and a soft place to land, Fresno could really blossom. As a senior, he deserves a much easier chapter than the story his body tells. If youâre looking to give a deserving older dog a second chance, Fresno may be your guy. ?? .facebook/reel/971381182000771 .instagram/reels/DVzx-FSjVPn/

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
