Description
Dog Breed: Border Collie / Saint Bernard / Mixed. Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location Ivory (responds to Maggie!) is a beautiful 1-year old Border Collie St. Bernard mix! Ivory recently spent a month in foster care and here is what her foster family said about her stay: Kennel and potty trained! Even when her foster parents were working their 8 hour shifts, Ivory had ZERO accidents! Loves to play with other dogs! She thrives being with her friends and is described as submissive. She is good with kids of all ages! It may take her some time to warm up to new faces but once she does, there is no one she doesn't love! She knows sit, shake, and lay! She has a strong desire to please, which makes training easy! Even though she is still a young pup, Ivory seems to have a mature personality and likes to have a strict day-to-day routine. This gentle girl is even good around chickens! If you think Ivory is the one for you, put in an adoption application at itvrescue! All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped and spayed or neutered.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Border Saint, a delightful hybrid of the Border Collie and Saint Bernard, emerged from a desire to combine the intelligence and agility of the former with the gentle giant nature of the latter. Originating in recent decades, these dogs typically possess a medium to large build, with a sturdy frame, a lush double coat, and expressive eyes that often reflect their keen minds. Their physical appearance can vary, but generally leans towards the Saint Bernard's size with a Border Collie's agility. Temperamentally, Border Saints are renowned for being affectionate, intelligent, and loyal companions, often exhibiting a calm demeanor with bursts of playful energy. They tend to be good-natured with children and other pets, making them excellent family dogs for those with ample space. Due to their size and need for moderate exercise, apartment living is generally not ideal; they thrive in homes with yards. Health-wise, they may inherit predispositions to conditions seen in their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, bloat, and eye conditions, necessitating regular veterinary check-ups.
