Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Meet Frank—a soft-hearted pup who is learning how to be brave. With an estimated date of birth of August 18, 2025, Frank is the kind of dog whose love is quiet, genuine, and incredibly rewarding. He can be timid when meeting new people and prefers to take his time getting comfortable, but once he trusts you, he transforms into the sweetest companion, happily melting into your lap as if he has always belonged there. Snuggles are definitely his favorite thing. Frank is not a fan of crates, but with patience and understanding, his playful personality begins to shine. One of his greatest joys is racing around the house with his canine friends, ears flopping as he discovers just how fun life can be. He is a smart, eager learner who is already working on commands such as sit, touch, and down. Nothing makes him prouder than realizing he has done something right. Squeaky toys send his tail into overdrive, and a warm lap is his favorite place to feel safe and secure. Frank is looking for a patient, experienced family that understands shy dogs and is willing to give him the time and encouragement he needs to build confidence. A home where someone is present most of the day would be ideal. He would especially benefit from having another confident, social dog to help show him the ropes. A quiet home with a securely fenced yard is required. If you have the patience to help a gentle soul blossom, Frank will reward you with a lifetime of loyalty, affection, and love If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Breed overview
Overview:
The Chiweenie, an adorable and increasingly popular designer breed, is a delightful cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the charming Dachshund. Originating in the United States, these small companions inherited a unique blend of traits from their parent breeds. Physically, they typically possess a long, low body reminiscent of the Dachshund, combined with the often-large ears and expressive eyes of the Chihuahua. Their coats can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to long and wiry. Temperamentally, Chiweenies are known for being loyal, affectionate, and surprisingly energetic. They often exhibit a playful and sometimes stubborn streak, making early socialization and training beneficial. Their small size makes them well-suited for apartment living and families with older children or individuals seeking a devoted lapdog. While generally robust, potential health considerations include issues common to their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation and intervertebral disc disease, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
