Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. OBG recently welcomed Beau, who is 38 pounds and estimated to be around one year old and a terrier mix. He was found running loose in West Virginia. Beau is now in a multi-dog foster home and he is having the time of his life playing with the other dogs! When he is not playing with other dogs or toys in the foster home, he loves to get affection from his foster parents. He is a young dog that also loves to chew and nylabones are a favorite for him. Beau would enjoy being in a home with another playmate. He is crate trained and uses the doggy door in his foster home to go outside and potty. Anyone who adopts this cutie will be very lucky to have such a sweet and playful boy join their family! To learn more on adopting Beau, please email us at adoptmecockerspanielrescue. Beau is located in Alexandria, VA.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
