Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Please meet Puddles! She is 7 years old, spayed, current on vaccines, and is being fostered in Stanwood, WA. Puddles is a free spirit who loves to cuddle and be loved. She will let you know when she’s ready for a pet or a belly rub, and she’s loyal to the core. She loves her people and is even fond of kids. Puddles gets excited when meeting new people like a lot of Boxers do, but she’s very well behaved and doesn’t jump up on them; if she does get overly excited, a quick “off” command does the trick. She’s a good listener and responds to basic commands very well. She knows sit, stay, down, and bed. She’s a smart girl, so it will be easy for her forever family to teach her even more things. Puddles can be dog selective so being the only dog in her forever home will be ideal. She has a high prey drive as well, so a home with no cats or other small animals will be necessary. Puddles will need a strong and experienced handler since she wasn’t socialized in her previous home. Because of this, it’s been difficult to take her on walks while in foster care, so if walks are important to her forever family, she will need some work in that area. She loves car rides though and would make a great copilot for road trips. Puddles is potty trained and while she is also crate trained, she does so well in the home by herself when her foster mom is gone, that there is no need to crate her. She doesn’t get into anything and just enjoys a nice snooze. This girl loves to run zoomies in the tall grass and play fetch either in the house or outside, and she’s always up for a good game of tug-of-war. Puddles loves to be asked for hugs and she’s completely happy and content having evenings on the couch watching TV with her foster mom. What more could you ask for?!? Overall, Puddles is great and quite the catch! If you think she would be a good fit for you, please fill out an application, which you can find here – .mustluvboxersrescue/adopt.

Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
