Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (short coat). DAISY is a bright, playful cattle dog mix with a joyful spirit and an eagerness to be part of the fun. She loves to play and would happily spend her days romping with dog friends, exploring the yard, and being included in family life. Daisy is great with other dogs, does well with kids, and would most likely be fine with cats, too. She’s an October 8, 2025 baby — a beautiful little Libra who enjoys companionship and thrives when she has friends around her. As a cattle dog mix, Daisy is smart and engaged. She will do best in an active home that enjoys playtime and interaction. She would especially love a friendly male dog companion who matches her playful energy. Her adoption fee includes her spay, vaccines, deworming, and microchip. Daisy was born on one of the reservations we work with and is ready for a loving, committed forever home. We are seeking a home for Daisy in the Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, White Rock, or Los Alamos areas. If you think Daisy might be the right fit for your family, please email desertpawsnmgmail to check availability and begin the application process. We would love to introduce you and your family (including your fur babies!) to this joyful, intelligent girl and help her become a cherished forever family member.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
