Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Currently located at our Evansville, IN location Meet Starry, a beautiful tan brindle girl with a perfect mix of independence and affection. She enjoys doing her own thing, but she still loves attention—she’ll hop into your lap for snuggles and then be on her way to her next adventure. Starry has been a very easy puppy to potty train. While she still has the occasional accident (she’s still young!), she understands the word “outside” and has very few accidents on the floor. She loves playing with her toys and especially enjoys playing fetch. Starry isn’t overly bothered by loud noises—she may jump at first, but she recovers quickly and handles them well. On car rides, she’s calm, relaxed, and happy to just go along for the ride. Starry is curious but gentle with cats. She may nibble on them while “cleaning” them, but she means no harm and stays soft and respectful. She also loves being outdoors and enjoys playing in the snow when it’s not too cold. If you’re looking for a playful, confident pup who balances independence with sweet cuddle moments, Starry could be your perfect match. Apply to adopt at ITVrescue All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
