Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Hi, I'm Appa! Iâm basically the total package. I love every human I meet (seriously, I havenât found one I donât like yet), I know âsit,â walk like a gentleman on leash, and keep my space tidyâno trash raiding, no naughty shenanigans, even overnight. Iâm housebroken, well-mannered, and very interested in learning new things. In fact, Iâd gladly continue my education⦠especially if treats are involved. My hobbies include making friends, going for walks, collecting toys⦠and conducting aggressive quality-control testing on stuffed animals. (Stuffies rarely survive. Consider yourself warned.) Iâm proud to report I do not destroy property. Fine print: âPropertyâ does not include stuffed toys. Stuffies have their own separate policy. I also have an adventurous side. While Iâm perfectly happy relaxing on my bed in the shelter office, Iâd love an active home where I can be part of the funâwhether thatâs a running partner, hiking buddy, or maybe even trying dog sports like agility or Fast CAT. Iâve got the enthusiasm and interest to give it a go. If youâre looking for a friendly, easygoing companion with good manners, a playful side, and lots of love to give, I might be your guy. References available upon request⦠although everyone in the shelter office already seems to be a fan.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
