Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Meet Timothina – A Tiny Survivor with a Giant Heart! Timothina is a precious, sweet little lady with the gentlest soul you’ll ever meet. This quiet Chihuahua loves to burrow into soft blankets, cozy beds, and your heart. At only 7 pounds, she may be small, but her capacity for love is absolutely enormous. At 13 years of age, Timothina is completely blind, but don’t tell her that — she navigates life with bravery and trust. She was found wandering the harsh Texas streets all alone, yet somehow her spirit remains beautifully unbroken. She greets everyone she meets with sweetness and quiet affection, as if she’s decided the world is still a good place. She adores car rides and is happiest snuggled safely beside her person, soaking in the comfort of simply being loved. Timothina is in a foster home with other dogs and she is fine with them. She has a special doggy friend named Mama who is also blind and who Timothina likes to spend time with. Her foster mom says that this little lady really loves sleeping in mom's big bed. We would like to find Timothina a new family or person who will welcome this gal as a sleeping companion. Timothina has a dental scheduled next week and will most likely be completely toothless afterward, but that won’t slow this little lady down one bit. Soft food, cozy blankets, and gentle cuddles are really all she asks for. Timothina would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can feel safe and cherished. She doesn’t need sight to see the goodness in people — and she’s ready to give her whole heart to someone special. If you would like to give Timothina a loving and secure retirement home, please fill out an adoption application at .northstarpets and be sure to ask for her by name!

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
