Dog Breed: Dachshund (long coat). Adoption Fee: 250. Meet SADIE BLUE, THIS IS WHAT HER PREVIOUS PERSON SAID ABOUT HER. Good morning! I’m located in Atlanta Georgia and she showed up as a stray a couple months ago. I took her to my vet to scan for a microchip. She is chipped and the vet reached out to the registered owner, but the owner decided to sign over ownership. She was in really bad shape, so I just wanted to take care of her but ultimately she is more than I can take on and she really does need a quiet home with older kids or no kids and someone who’s home more than I am. I’ve spent about $2500 getting her in better shape than she was when she showed up, but the vet thinks at this point she might have Cushing’s and I just can’t take on that Burden. Chapman's has her now and we have since taken her to our vet and have done all the testing to confirm she does have cushings, we have started her on meds and she seems to be stable, waiting on second test results by 2/16 to see if the meds are helping. The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard.
