Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Hello future family! My name is Pixie Stix and I’m as sweet as my name! I’m a 1 year old 30 lb female heeler mix. I’m on the timid side but I warm up quickly and then I’m obsessed with you! I’m a Velcro dog and would love to follow you around the house wherever you go! I love pets, I love attention. I love being happy! I love zoomies! If you have another friendly dog that will play with me I would love that! But I could be an only dog too as long as you give me enough attention and exercise. I can be a bit grumbly at first meetings, but I’m all bark and no bite. It comes from a place of fear and I likely will improve with self confidence. I also love toys! Toys are my literal favorite thing! I will pull all of them out of the toy basket and just continually move them around the room. My foster mom says it’s adorable. I am still a young girl, so I’m training to learn what is and is not a toy to chew. I'm also learning not to counter surf. It's just because I'm curious and want to see what's going on. Ever heard of a heeler that isn’t nippy? That’s me! I don’t nip at all! Because I’m still a bit nervous, kids 8 and older would be best for me. I’m a pro in a crate. I quietly sleep in there and sometimes when I’m feeling overwhelmed I go in there on my own to decompress. I’m potty trained too! I do great with a consistent schedule and I will cry at you to tell you when I need to go out. I am a high energy breed dog. I do need consistent exercise and mental stimulation to be my best behaved self. I love walks and would even love to go on some running or hiking adventures with you! I just need some encouragement and training to keep on task. I really just need someone who will help me build my confidence and be dedicated to training so I can be my best pup self! Overall I’m a very happy, silly girl who just wants humans to love! If you think you might be my humans apply to meet me at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
