Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 350. Meet Sir Baxter BooBear — a title he has absolutely earned. At just over a year old and weighing 32 pounds, Baxter is the perfect combination of playful energy, charm, and affection. He's the kind of dog who brightens every room he enters and quickly becomes everyone's favorite companion. Baxter has already mastered many of the important life skills. He's house-trained, crate-trained, and eager to please, making him an easy addition to a family ready for all the fun of dog ownership without the challenges of raising a young puppy from scratch. This happy-go-lucky boy loves adventure. Whether it's going for a walk, hopping in the car for a ride, playing fetch in the yard, or meeting new people, Baxter approaches life with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. He adores children and enjoys making friends wherever he goes. Other dogs are welcome additions to his social circle, and he would especially love a canine sibling to romp and play with. While Baxter is always ready for fun, his favorite part of the day may be the quiet moments spent with his people. After a day filled with playtime, zoomies, and expert-level squirrel patrol, he's more than happy to curl up beside you on the couch for an evening of snuggles. Baxter would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where he can safely run, play, and burn off some of his youthful energy. A home with children ages 8 and older is preferred. Cats, however, are not part of Baxter's dream family. If you're looking for a loyal companion who brings adventure, laughter, and endless affection, Sir Baxter BooBear is ready to become your very best friend. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
