Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Hi, I'm Maggie. I'm a super sweet and loving girl who's eager to please. I'm extremely food motivated and a fast learner. Right now I am overweight, but staff are working hard to get me back into shape. I love car rides, long walks, puzzle toys, and belly rubs. My best home is one where I am the only pet, no small kids, and preferably an experienced dog home. I do resource guard my toys and food, so it's important to not try and take these things away from me. Resource guarding can be managed with proper training as well. Despite being an only pet, I have enough love in my heart to make up for it! I love meeting new people and am super happy-go-lucky. Come meet me, I promise you will love me!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
