At a year of age and lots of years ahead of her she boasts that Aussie spark with bright intelligent eyes and an irresistible energetic charm that draws everyone in. Luna is a warm friendly dog who bonds well with other dogs and children positioning her perfectly for a bustling family life full of activity. Her history with cats remains unknown as she has not had experienced the company of a cat since coming into rescue. Her leash training is still in progress however she learns fast with steady positive encouragement and gentle consistency. Her sharp herding smarts and affectionate personality mean she flourishes with engaging games mental challenges and plenty of one-on-one time. Luna has made superstar status with her house and crate training skills. Although she is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
