Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever. Nova is a 1-year-old purebred Labrador Retriever with a heart as big as her puppy-dog eyes. This gorgeous girl is the total package: sweet, silly, and just the right amount of goofy to keep you smiling every single day. She’s still very much a young Lab at heart — which means zoomies in the yard, happy tail thumps that double as home décor rearranging, and the kind of joyful energy that makes life more fun. Nova loves her people deeply and is happiest when she’s right by your side (or preferably leaning her whole body into you for extra cuddles). Full transparency? Miss Nova is *not* a fan of being kenneled. She would much rather be out living her best life with her humans. She’s also still polishing up her leash manners — she gets excited about adventures and sometimes forgets she’s not training for the Iditarod. With a little consistency, positive training, and lots of treats (she is a Lab, after all ), she’ll get there in no time. Nova would thrive in a home ready to embrace her young-dog enthusiasm and continue helping her grow into the amazing companion she’s destined to be. She has all the lovable Labrador qualities people adore: loyalty, affection, intelligence, and that classic “happy to see you every time” personality. If you’re looking for a best friend who will make you laugh, fill your camera roll, and love you with her whole entire being fill out an application and visit her this Sunday at our adoption clinic!

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
