Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (short coat). Meet Nala — sweet, social, and ready to retrieve your heart! Nala is a beautiful 2-year-old white Labrador Retriever weighing 50 pounds, and she is truly the whole package! This sweet girl is playful, affectionate, and ready to find the forever family she deserves. She just might be your future best friend wrapped in white fur! Nala’s previous mom worked long hours, and while she was loved, Nala is happiest when she can be part of the action. She absolutely adores kids and is wonderful with them. She’s also great with other dogs and would love a playful canine companion. Because she loves to play so much, she can be a bit overwhelming for cats. She is spayed, microchipped, and will be receiving the remainder of her vetting this week. Nala is house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping peacefully through the night in her crate — though she can also be trusted to snooze on her own bed or even cuddle up in yours! True to her Labrador nature, Nala loves car rides, walks, and especially playing fetch. Her ball and chew toys are her prized possessions! She gets adorably excited for treats and is eager to please. And in classic Lab fashion, she surprisingly loves bath time and will happily jump right into the shower. When the day winds down, Nala is all about snuggles. Tummy rubs and back scratches are her love language, and she will happily curl up next to you on the couch for some quality cuddle time. Nala is looking for a forever family who will make her a true part of their lives — not just a pet, but a beloved family member. If you think Nala might be what your family is missing, please complete an application on our website at .legacyhumanesociety, and her foster mom will be in touch! Could Nala be the one who retrieves your heart? We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at legacyhumanesociety/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
