Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Reggie is a lovable pup who is learning that life can be safe, fun, and full of love after coming from a difficult and abusive situation. Despite his past, Reggie’s sweet and affectionate nature shines brighter every day as he continues to blossom in foster care. He is housebroken and crate trained, and while he can pull on the leash, he’s actively working on improving his leash manners. Reggie does well with kids and other dogs and enjoys being part of the action. This curious, high-energy boy loves treats, snuggles, and especially going for walks. He’s both loving and eager to please, making him a wonderful companion for a family ready to continue guiding him as he grows. Over the past week, Reggie has made incredible progress — learning to trust, becoming more playful, and gaining confidence each day. He would do best with an active family who can provide regular exercise, playtime, and plenty of affection while continuing his training. Reggie is ready for a fresh start and a forever home where he can keep growing into the happy, confident dog he’s meant to be. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
