Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Housebroken: Will sometimes pee inside. Previous owner said Blue Steel has done well with other dogs and kids, did not specify what age. Reason at shelter: Owner surrendered due to escaping yard multiple times. Profile: Blue Steel is a sweet boy who can be a bit on the shy side with strangers. He has not been in playgroups yet and per his previous owner has done well with other dogs. In his kennel we have noted sometimes he is barrier reactive to other dogs passing. Blue has a history of jumping and climbing fences and we recommend keeping him on a leash or tie out even in a fenced yard while adopters are getting to know him. Make sure to keep him secure/prevent him from getting out of the yard. Escaping can lead to dogs getting lost or injured. *Please note that all information is from this petâs prior home history and/or experiences in the shelter. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
