Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. A set of bonded dogs, due to a sudden, irrevocable shift in my life, I do not have the time or capability to provide them the home and care they need. Starting with Astri (the golden hued, smaller black and white speckled one) she is an Australian Shepard mix with terrier. The smartest animal I have ever been allowed to enjoy as as a part of my family. Picks up tricks like water. Obliterates any toy that isnt hard in a matter of moments, loves to chew and snuggle, can be a menace about counter space if its not tall enough to stop her. She is fixed, roughly 3-4ish years old, and microchipped. Ladybird is the sweetest girl in turn, black lab, greyhound, and something else that makes her a little smaller. Not quite as smart but doubly food driven. She has severe separation anxiety and requires caging to avoid destructive tendencies, but has nothing but affection to give otherwise after meeting someone. Not fixed nor microchipped. Age: 2 **** Breed: Unknown **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2194127&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
