Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (long coat). Shimmer is an 8-month-old terrier mix who operates at one speed: FULL CHAOS (with a side of kisses). She greets you like you’ve been gone for years—expect enthusiastic wiggles, zero personal space, and a face full of love. She’s great with other dogs and would thrive with a playful buddy to help burn off her endless energy. Potty training is a work in progress—she mostly uses the dog door or pee pads. Leash walking? She's so excited to GO she can't contain hersleft. Crates are a hard no in her world. They provoke extreme anxiety but she does absolutely fine left on her own in a dog-proof area. Just not a kennel or crate. At night, she’ll quietly upgrade herself to your pillow, because obviously that’s where she belongs. Shimmer is hilarious, affectionate, and a whole lot of personality. She needs an active home with a sense of humor and a willingness to embrace the chaos.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
