Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Check out our Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for more pictures & videos of our adoptable dogs! Updated: 3/30/2025 Dog Name: Peyton Sex: Male Estimated Breed: Chihuahua Mix Approximate Age: 1-2 Years Approximate Weight: 16 lbs Spay/Neuter Status: Neutered Description: Peyton is a truly special boy who is currently on a journey to becoming his very best self. While he has so much love to give, his past has clearly left him with some uncertainty, and he’s still learning how to feel safe and confident in the world around him. Peyton has been adopted and returned twice due to some behavioral challenges, and as a rescue, we made the decision to step in and provide him with more structured, professional support. He is currently working closely with our trusted trainer, Lynne, in a board-and-train program, where he has already been making great progress over the past couple of weeks! Peyton is extremely dog-friendly and thrives around other pups. When it comes to people, he tends to have a “stranger danger” mindset at first. New or fast movements can make him feel unsure, causing him to react by barking or becoming overwhelmed. He has shown signs of fear-based reactivity, which we are actively addressing through training and confidence-building. The beautiful thing about Peyton is that once he feels safe and builds trust, his sweet and affectionate personality shines through. He truly wants to connect, he just needs time, patience, and clear boundaries. Like many intelligent dogs, once he gets comfortable, he may test limits, so continued structure and consistency will be important in his future home. Peyton would do best in a home with older children or adults who can respect his space and understand his boundaries. He is still in training and will continue working with Lynne for the next few weeks as we help him make even more progress before transitioning into a forever home! We are committed to finding Peyton the right fit for him! Someone who sees his potential, understands his journey, and is willing to continue the work to help him succeed. For approved adopters, we will connect you directly with Lynne so you feel fully supported and confident moving forward with him. At the end of the day, Peyton is a loving dog who simply needs someone to guide him, advocate for him, and give him the chance he deserves! If you think you could be the right match for Peyton, please submit an application. Adoption Fee: $450 We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433 ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time, we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs once they're at least 6 months old. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are between 6 to 8 months old. Proof that the spay/neuter has been completed will need to be submitted to Tailwaggers911. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out.
