Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 300. Meet Jasper, a 2-year-old male dog who’s a 65-pound sweetheart and thinks he’s a lap dog! Jasper has a medium activity level and loves being close to his people. He’s house trained, crate trained, and gets along well with both dogs and cats. His favorite thing is attention, and he’ll happily soak up all the affection you’re willing to give. Because of his size and love for cuddling, Jasper would do best in a home with older kids or adults. Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $300 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
