Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 350. Hi, I’m Ash, and I’d really love to tell you my story. I’m a hound mix, about 2–3 years old and around 30 pounds, and my foster mom says I’m one incredibly brave girl. When I first arrived at my foster home, the world felt very scary. I was frightened of just about everything and had to be carried out of my crate just to go outside. But once I realized I was safe, I came out of my shell quickly and completely. A little patience, a lot of kindness, and some very motivating snacks helped me discover just how confident and happy I could be. These days, I love being right in the middle of everything. I enjoy the company of my foster family and absolutely adore other dogs. I’m happiest when I’m nearby, soaking in all the activity. Even when another dog is a bit too close for comfort, I’ve never growled or shown any aggression. I’m truly as sweet as they come and love everyone I meet. Being a hound means my nose is always working. I have a strong scent drive and take my sniffing responsibilities very seriously. Walks are full of exciting discoveries, and the yard is endlessly fascinating to me. Following my nose brings me so much joy, and it’s a big part of who I am. I should also mention that I have three legs. Being a tri-pawd doesn’t slow me down at all. I can run, climb stairs, and fully keep up with daily life. I’ve even surprised everyone with how capable I am. I’ve got a lot of spirit and determination, and I’m proof that having three legs doesn’t stop a dog from living her very best life. I’m completely potty trained and haven’t had a single accident since living with my foster family. I’m affectionate, happy, and full of love, and I’m just waiting for someone to give me a chance. I promise I’ll return that love tenfold. I can’t wait to find my forever home and share all of my heart with you. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
