Email: ddrtxinfogmail Primary Website: .DDRTX GiGi is about 9 year sold and weighs around 18 pounds. She came to the rescue after her owner passed away, through no fault of her own. She’s adjusting well and is ready to find her next loving home. She’s very affectionate and truly loves her person. GiGi will follow you everywhere and just wants to be close. She doesn’t love being alone for long periods and would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. GiGi is great with other dogs and enjoys their company. She’s more shy around kids, but she is not aggressive - just a little sensitive and prefers calm interactions. One of her cutest features is that she has no teeth in the front, so sometimes her little tongue sticks out - it’s absolutely adorable. She also loves to sunbathe and will happily nap in a warm sunny spot. At night, she’s a big fan of sleeping in the big bed right next to her human. She’s currently being treated for a skin allergy and is doing well with care. GiGi is a sweet, loyal companion who would thrive in a calm home where she can be loved and included in daily life. Overview:
The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy. While they are intelligent, their independent nature can make training a delightful challenge. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them well-suited for apartment living, and they can be wonderful companions for families, though early socialization is key, especially with children and other pets. Regarding health, their unique body shape predisposes them to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so careful handling and weight management are crucial.
