Description
Dog Breed: Husky / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed. Meet Atlas a 3 year old Shepherd husky mix. At 3 Atlas finds himself looking for the perfect home. Not a fan of most men or young children. Atlas would thrive in a home who gives him his space and has plenty of room for lots of outside time. Outside seems to be where Atlas thrives although he was an inside dog at one point before his last owner made him an outside dog. While a fenced in yard in never a requirement, we do believe it may be best for him (but not a deal breaker if you don't have one) Someone who can read Atlas's body language would be the best fit because Atlas does go stiff when he is done getting attention or needs more space. Atlas is a great dog who does love his walks and get more and more outgoing the more time you spend with him. He is definitely going to make someone the perfect companion!Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at infoawlwarsaw if you have any questions about me! Breed overview
Overview:
The Gerberian Shepsky is a hybrid of the German Shepherd Dog and Siberian Husky, emerging in North America as a modern companion with working-dog roots. Typically medium to large, they feature an athletic build, erect ears, and a dense double coat, often with striking blue or heterochromatic eyes. Their temperament blends loyalty, intelligence, and independence, making them affectionate yet occasionally headstrong. With very high energy, they thrive on daily exercise and structured training, suiting active families more than apartment living without ample outdoor time. Early socialization supports good manners with children and other pets. Notable health considerations include potential hip dysplasia and eye issues; regular vet care, weight management, and coat grooming help maintain well-being. Their typical lifespan ranges around 10–13 years, rewarding committed owners with a loyal, adventurous companion.
