Description
Dog Breed: Curly-Coated Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Stiles is a ridiculously happy young pup bursting with cheer and good vibes! He zooms through the snow, flops over dramatically for belly rubs, and has the sweetest little happy trot youâve ever seen. Life is exciting in Stilesâ world â and he wants you to be part of it. At just about 10 months old, Stiles hasnât had much stability. Before finding his way to us, it sounds like he may have been on his own as a stray for some time. What he truly needs now is structure, patience, and time to help him grow into the confident companion we know he can be. Stiles is well mannered in his kennel and content when he has toys to keep him busy. He seems to appreciate having a space of his own, which makes us think he may transition well to crate training. He already knows âsit,â but like many puppies, keeping his attention can be tricky when there are so many exciting things happening around him! Stiles is a busy bee with lots of youthful energy. Heâll need continued guidance and positive reinforcement as he learns the ropes in his new home. Most of all, heâll need grace while he adjusts â heâs trying his very best, and we think he is such a good boy. With other dogs, Stiles is wiggly, friendly, and lights up with companionship. Weâre happy to provide a dog meet-and-greet to help find the perfect fit. Because heâs still learning not to jump and isnât quite aware of his size, he is a bit too excitable for small children â though he always means well. Stiles is so deserving of a second chance. We are committed to keeping him safe and supported until he finds the perfect home â one where he can truly thrive. If youâre ready for a joyful, goofy, big-hearted pup, Stiles is waiting for you.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
