Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Sherm is an interesting fella. In the kennels he barks a ton, but when you go in with him he's super skittish. Both behaviors are because he's scared- the busy loud shelter is a bit overwhelming for him, so he tries to protect himself by creating distance. We spent sometime just quieting down and trying to feel safe. We also worked on having a leash on- since that's a big trigger for him currently, but he's trying really hard. Sherm is a really sweet boy and wants so badly to connect and feel safe. Once he adjusts to a new home-which will take time and patience from his person- he's going to be a shadow/partner/protector/soul dog for that extremely lucky person. He's still young at an estimated 9mos old, so he's eager to find his playfulness. He also may grow a little bit more, but shouldn't get considerably larger than he is now- which is a perfect medium. He's clearly had a rough start to his young life, and has a little bit to overcome as a result, but his sensitive loving nature is already clear behind it all.
