Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Chow Chow / Mixed (short coat). Harry is a happy, good-natured goofball who absolutely loves being around other dogs and people. He’s the kind of dog who brings joy wherever he goes — playful outside, naptime inside, and always ready to make you smile. His favorite things are dog friends, toys, and a cozy place to relax after a fun day. Harry’s adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines, deworming, and microchip. He was born November 19, 2022 on one of the reservations we work with and has been growing into a confident, social boy in foster care. He’s crate trained and sleeps well through the night. Because he eats a little fast, he uses a slow-feeder bowl (an easy $10 solution), and he does great with routine. We believe he is a Lab, Cattledog, Chow and his middle name is "play" ;-) Harry would thrive in a home in the Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, White Rock, or Los Alamos area with another friendly dog who enjoys playtime as much as he does. If you think Harry might be a good fit for your family, please email desertpawsnmgmail to check availability and start the application process. We’d love to introduce you and your dogs to this joyful boy and settle-in to his forever home.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Labrachow, a striking hybrid of the Chow Chow and Labrador Retriever, typically emerges as a medium to large-sized dog, blending the best of both parent breeds. Originating from designer breed initiatives, they inherit a sturdy build, often with a dense double coat that can vary widely in color, from black and chocolate to cream and red, sometimes showcasing the Chow Chow’s distinctive blue-black tongue. Temperamentally, Labrachows tend to be loyal and affectionate with their families, often exhibiting the Labrador’s playful nature alongside the Chow Chow’s more reserved and independent streak. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial to ensure a well-adjusted companion. While generally adaptable, their energy levels make them better suited for homes with a yard rather than confined apartment living, and they thrive in active families willing to provide regular exercise and mental stimulation. Health considerations can include predispositions to hip and elbow dysplasia, common in larger breeds, and certain eye conditions, making responsible breeding and regular vet check-ups important for a long, healthy life.
