Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Currently located at our Evansville, IN facility, Bambino is a 5-year-old Pit Bull Terrier weighing in at 88lbs. He is said to be great with children of all ages and enjoys being part of a family. Bambino has not been around other dogs, but can do a meet and greet. He would however need a home without cats. He’s a playful guy who loves going on walks and spending time with his people. Bambino is kennel trained and knows several commands, including sit, “say prayers,” and lay down. He’s a smart, well-mannered dog who would thrive with consistency, love, and daily activity. Applications can be found at ITVrescue. All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian and receive age-appropriate vaccinations. They are dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, and heartworm tested and treated if necessary.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
