As puppies, they require consistent training, structure, and patience to help shape them into well-mannered adults. With positive reinforcement and engagement, they grow into loyal family members who thrive on both activity and companionship. Angus’s Story & Personality: Angus is a timid but incredibly sweet puppy who has really started to come out of his shell. He can be a little mischievous — as any baby his age would be — but overall he leans toward the chill side. He enjoys short bursts of playful energy followed by long stretches of relaxing on the couch near his people. He loves kids and gets along with everyone he meets, though he can be a bit mouthy since he’s still learning puppy manners. He does well with other dogs and would especially thrive with a dog sibling who enjoys puppy energy and play. If left alone, he feels more secure when another dog is present. He is currently working on house training and leash training. While he prefers not to be crated, he should be confined when left alone until fully trained. He does not like being alone but settles better with canine companionship. Angus is very food motivated, which will make training easier for a committed adopter. He will need plenty of chew toys to prevent him from chewing on shoes and other household items. He enjoys being outside, especially if you are out there with him — otherwise, he prefers the comforts of home. Because of his short legs and sturdy build, jumping onto high furniture can be difficult and not ideal for his joints. Ramps would be beneficial to protect him as he grows. Above all, Angus loves being loved — and he gives that love right back. Angus’s Ideal Home: Someone committed to puppy training and consistency A home with another friendly dog preferred Family prepared for normal puppy mouthiness Plenty of chew toys and supervision Household willing to provide ramps for joint protection An adopter who understands puppies need time, patience, and structure Ready to Welcome a Sweet, Snuggly Puppy Into Your Life? Angus may be young, but his loving heart is already huge. With guidance, patience, and companionship, he will grow into a devoted and affectionate lifelong friend. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
