Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Niko is a 2yo , 65lb neutered pit bull mix. He was found as a stray, severely malnourished and frostbitten- he has been with my family for a year. Meal time is his favorite time of the day- a surefire way to get his tail wagging! He gets cold easy- he's usually is wearing a sweater in winter months. When the weather is nice it can be difficult to get him to come inside- sunbathing is one of his favorite activities. He is very anxious/ skittish- sudden noises and/ or movements will make him BOLT. He LOVES to be loved; under the chin and his ribs are his sweet spots. He is more of a couch potato than a tug-of-war or fetch kind of guy. Except for snoring, he is relatively quiet- he doesn't bark often, and I have NEVER heard him whine or cry. But the reason he can't live with us anymore is because he occasionally fights with my other 5 yo neutered pit bull mix. 99% of the time they exist in harmony- they play and wrestle together, and even snuggle while napping. But every once in a while, they get in knock-down, drag-out brawls- and my children are uncomfortable/ scared to be around Niko. I think he will thrive in a one-dog home. He has zero interest in cats. I am unsure if his "aggression" would be the same with female dog. I am also unsure of his temperament with small children. He has never bitten a human. **** Breed: Pit bull mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2194357&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
