Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $685. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: about 5 months old (as of 2/21/2026) Weight: about 10 pounds (as of 2/21/2026) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Trembles, one third of the Adams family litter! His pointy ears, white-tipped paws and dazzling smile are simply to die for. Brothers Ready Freddie, Bubbie and mom Morticia are also available for adoption at the time of this post. Trembles, like his two brothers, is looking for a calm and quiet fur-ever home. While a bit cautious and shy when meeting new people, he will eventually realize you're not creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky! He just needs a bit of time to adjust and get to know you. We haven’t had the chance to see how he interacts with children just yet. He hopes to find a patient family who will let him approach at his own pace and show his true colors. Like his mama, he enjoys being active with a bit of chase and roughhousing, followed by cuddles on the couch. He’s a typical puppy in so many ways—super playful, treat motivated, eager to please and a total love bug. He’s clean and quiet in the crate and has started house training, which is fantastic for a young puppy! Being just a puppy, Trembles has so much to learn! He will need a family that’s equally committed to obedience training, playtime and cuddles. We highly recommend training for all dogs to socialize, build confidence and strengthen their bond with their new family! It takes time, energy and patience to raise a puppy, but it's always worth it. It’s absolutely scary how cute Trembles is! Will you give him the loving home he deserves? Fill out an application today and sweet puppy kisses may soon come your way! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Chiweenie, an adorable and increasingly popular designer breed, is a delightful cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the charming Dachshund. Originating in the United States, these small companions inherited a unique blend of traits from their parent breeds. Physically, they typically possess a long, low body reminiscent of the Dachshund, combined with the often-large ears and expressive eyes of the Chihuahua. Their coats can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to long and wiry. Temperamentally, Chiweenies are known for being loyal, affectionate, and surprisingly energetic. They often exhibit a playful and sometimes stubborn streak, making early socialization and training beneficial. Their small size makes them well-suited for apartment living and families with older children or individuals seeking a devoted lapdog. While generally robust, potential health considerations include issues common to their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation and intervertebral disc disease, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
