This pup's adoption fee is $500. If you are still interested, please read more below. Hi, I'm Cuddles, it is nice to meet you. I have a wavy black coat that does shed and webbing between my toes. My foster Grandma says I love to eat all my food that I am given and I appreciate a good snack any time of day. Grandma can give me and my foster Sister Ginger a snack while sitting down next to each other. Ginger also taught me how to use a dog treat puzzle where I find treats inside. Grandma says I sure learn so much from watching Ginger. ( Ginger is a large chocolate lab) Grandma says I will grow up Large like Ginger. I love going out on the deck to watch birds and squirrels and love to sit right next to Ginger. I am lucky that Grandma is retired and she leaves us out often during the day. When the house needs to be cleaned or laundry needs doing I am happy to go in my crate and avoid getting in the way. I like when Grandma sits down in the evening so I can cuddle up with her. I sleep in my crate all night until Ginger wakes me up early in the AM . I need to go potty whenever I come out of my crate. The one thing Grandma says about me is that I am a private pooper. She says outside that's ok, but you will need to keep extra doors closed in the house so I don't go and hide poop for you to find later. The vet said I have a heart murmur that I will hopefully outgrow, but my new doctor should keep an eye on it. If you're looking for a fun loving, cuddly dog I would love to meet you. PS. Winston the Cat lives with us and I have learned cats have sharp nails! Remember that I am a puppy and play hard at times and that includes nipping when I am playing. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting small children yet so I'm not sure if I can get along with them - I may be a bit much for some littles. This pup is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and neutered. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL. Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
