Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat). Yes, Kaz is soooo handsome, but he lives up to the breed! This comes with sometimes being stubborn/pushy, and nipping which can be difficult to deal with if you’re not familiar with this breed’s standard behavior. This boy takes a few minutes to warm up to new people, but once he does he is very loving and affectionate. He needs consistent exercise and mental stimulation and he does whine when left alone. He is potty trained and has lived with dogs, cats and a rabbit! He loves car rides too! Kaz has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out his playgroup video here: To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
